2012 AGM

The 31st annual general meeting of the West of Scotland Cat Club was held on Sunday 22st April 2012, with 15 people gathering together for a good ‘catty’ chat as well as conducting the formal business of the club.

The club had had a good year with membership now over the ‘magic 200’, and a very successful Silver Jubilee show. Feedback from judges, stewards and exhibitors alike had been very positive, with particular mention being made of the fantastic layout for Best in Show judging. The meeting gave special thanks to our show managers, Ian and Caroline Thomson, on running another highly successful, and enjoyable, show.

It was noted that life membership of the club was available at the very reasonable rate of £50 for single members and £70 for joint, with the result that six people signed up for life membership there and then!

Ian Thomson was re-elected as Chairman and Elizabeth Stewart as Hon Treasurer. We are particularly delighted that we now have a fully elected Hon Secretary in Richard Gabb, whose election was greeted with a spontaneous round of applause. As we have now hit the ‘magic 200’ members the club is eligible to have two GCCF delegates, with Caroline Prout and Heather McRae being elected as delegates, and Richard Gabb as reserve delegate.

We had the formal award of trophies for Best of Variety and HP winners at our Silver Jubilee show – many thanks to our trophy secretaries Margaret Anderson and Elizabeth Allison for all their work in preparing for, and doing, a lovely presentation ceremony. This was followed by the traditional raffle, with loads of great prizes – edible, drinkable, wearable and smellable – with no-one leaving empty-handed. After that all that was left for attendees to do was to enjoy a good lunch and more chat.

We hope to see even more of you next year!
